Middleware for Network Eccentric and Mobile Applications (MINEMA)

چکیده
The European Science Foundation acts as a catalyst for the development of science by bringing together leading scientists and funding agencies to debate, plan and implement pan-European initiatives. During the last decade it has been possible to observe impressive scientific, technological and experimental advances in the area of ad hoc networks. Although this technology is considered one of the main infrastructures for future applications, there is today the lack of appropriate middleware abstractions that adequately address the requirement of such a challenging environment.

A Stateless Neighbour-Aware Cooperative Caching Protocol for Ad-Hoc Networks
Replication of data items among different nodes of a Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is an efficient technique to increase data availability and improve access latency. This paper proposes a novel algorithm to distribute cached data items among nodes in a MANET. The algorithm combines a probabilistic approach with latency constraints such as the distance from both the source and the clients of th...

The Telex middleware facilitates the design of collaborative applications in a mobile environment. It provides optimistic replication, tentative execution and disconnected work. It solves conflicts based on semantic information provided by applications. We study in particular a Shared Calendar (SC) application, whereby mobile users can create and manage meetings in a collection of shared calend...
متن کاملLocation-Aware Event-Based Middleware: A Paradigm for Collaborative Mobile Applications?
Existing research on event-based middleware for mobile computing has mainly focused on supporting nomadic applications using wireless data communication based on the infrastructure network model. Relatively little work has been done to accommodate collaborative applications that often use ad
متن کاملMiddleware Services for Network Disruption Tolerant Mobile Applications
The demand fo r mobile application services has increased recently. However mobile wireless access technologies so far are not mature enough to address concerns with the reliab ility of mobile services. Therefore, mobile services are prone to failures caused by disruption of active wireless access network connections due to device movement. It is important to have proper mechanisms for managing...
متن کاملMiddleware for On-Demand Access to Sensor Networks
As sensor networks become increasingly ubiquitous, we envision an instrumented environment that can provide varying amounts of information to mobile applications immersed within the network. Such a scenario deviates from existing deployments which are often highly application-specific and funnel information to a central collection service for a single purpose. Instead, we target future scenario...
